Dr. Scot Youngblood graduated from Duke University with a Bachelor’s in Biology.  He continued his studies at Duke University School of Medicine, graduating in 1997. 

As his undergraduate and medical school were enabled with Navy scholarships, he began his surgical training at Naval Medical Center San Diego as a newly commissioned Lieutenant in the Medical Corps.  After internship, he served as a Naval Flight Surgeon for three years.  He then returned to NMC San Diego for his orthopedic residency, graduating in 2005.

His first tour of duty as an orthopedic surgeon was at Naval Hospital Pensacola for three years.  He then returned to San Diego, joining the faculty at his former residency instructing Foot and Ankle and Sports Medicine.  He then completed a fellowship in Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Surgery in Charlotte, North Carolina with OrthoCarolina.  After fellowship, he worked at NMC San Diego as the senior Foot and Ankle surgeon, to include seven years as Chairman of the Orthopedic Department.  He retired in November 2021 as a decorated Captain with 25 years of service.  His deployments included a seven-month tour in Kandahar, Afghanistan in 2012.  He is board-certified in both General Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, with decades of clinical experience.

Dr. Youngblood currently resides in Coronado, California with his family, where he is an active participant in his community.  He serves as Assistant Scoutmaster in the local Boy Scout Troop, and is a Trustee and Vice-President of the Coronado Unified School District Board, elected in 2022.
