Wednesday, June 30, 2021 – San Diego, CA – Synergy Orthopedic Specialists, San Diego’s largest privately-owned Orthopedic practice, has acquired Encinitas Podiatry Group (“Encinitas Podiatry”), a premier podiatry practice specializing in state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic foot and ankle services. Encinitas Podiatry lead by board-certified foot and ankle surgeon Dr. James Hatfield has been serving the North San Diego Coastal area since 1978.
Encinitas Podiatry is located at 501 N. El Camino Real, Suite 201, Encinitas, CA 92024 on the intersection of Garden View Road and El Camino Real. Dr. Tyson Schmidthuber DPM will join Synergy Orthopedics podiatric team and Dr. Hatfield is retiring. Dr. Jay S. Berenter, DPM, FACFAS, and vice president Synergy Orthopedic will also treat patients for podiatry and foot and ankle procedures. Sports medicine orthopedic surgeon John “Andy” Grotting MD and Dr. Mark Schultzel orthopedic surgeon specializing in shoulder and elbow surgery will also treat patients out of the new Encinitas location. The facility has 6 treatment rooms, an X-Ray, and on-site DME and Orthotics fittings.

This expansion is part of Synergy Orthopedics’ growth strategy to meet increasing demand in markets across southern California by providing orthopedic services to the community of Encinitas. “This acquisition allows Synergy Orthopedics to expand its footprint to northern San Diego County and grow to 15 locations in southern California,” said Synergy Orthopedics’ CEO Alejandro Fernandez.
